An adventurous spirit
Born on October 26, 1952, in Sri Lanka, Hazly Amir’s upbringing in a large and loving family nurtured his deep passion for nature and the great outdoors. From a young age, he found solace in fishing, hunting, and camping, igniting a lifelong spirit of adventure and curiosity.
Growing up with his brother, Hazly’s motor mechanic skills flourished, while his love for motorbikes provided him with a sense of freedom and exhilaration. These early experiences laid the foundation for a life filled with travel and a desire to break free from the ordinary.
An incredible Journey
In 1983, Hazly embarked on a life-changing journey that would shape the course of his life. Setting foot in Australia, he embraced the thrill of exploring new horizons and cultures. Initially a motor mechanic, his mechanical prowess allowed him to master the art of fixing engines and automobiles, bringing him fulfilment in his work.
Driven by curiosity and a thirst for new experiences, Hazly ventured into different occupations, becoming a skilled boilermaker and working on pipeline construction projects in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. His wanderlust took him to countries like Colombo, India, Nepal, and Pakistan, enjoying the richness of new landscapes and cultures.
Love and life
While exploring Europe, fate intervened when Hazly met an Australian woman in London. A deep connection bloomed, and they soon fell in love. Recognising the depth of their bond, Hazly made the decision to leave his nomadic lifestyle behind, choosing love and companionship over the open road. Journeying together to Australia, they embarked on an unforgettable road trip, crossing stunning landscapes from Melbourne to Sydney then finally settling in Adelaide. That road trip became a testament to their love and a celebration of their shared adventurous spirit.
Hazly embraced the new chapters in his life, cherishing the memories, lessons, and connections forged during those extraordinary journeys.
Hazly’s life from humble beginnings in Sri Lanka to the tapestry of travel and the transformative power of love, his journey epitomises the beauty of a life well-lived.
His advice to the younger generation is to travel, explore the world, embrace the diverse cultures that exist and prioritise their health and well-being.
