It all began in Merrylands, where Greg shared life with twin siblings - a sister and a brother. “We spent our days playing sports and chasing each other around the house,” he said smiling as he reminisced. “As a child, my favourite time of year was always Christmas and spending time with family.”
As Greg was growing up, rugby league was the sport to play. “Rugby league was my passion. I started playing as a child and continued into adulthood,” said Greg. “I made good friends through sport and I really enjoyed the training side of it as well.”
Greg worked as an accountant for many years and had the opportunity to travel overseas for work - mainly in the US. Unfortunately, he didn’t really enjoy the profession itself, explaining that the expectations of the role just weren’t for him, such as the long hours. In the end, he stuck with accounting but transitioned to working for himself.
It was in his twenties that Greg married and had three wonderful children. Alongside his family, he also developed a love for collecting old-style clocks, and a love of music. “Music has always been a big part of my life,” said Greg and added, “My favourite bands are the Eagles, Pink Floyd, and Fleetwood Mac.”
When it comes to food, Greg’s favourites are Chinese and Italian. “Travelling overseas for work allowed me to experience new cultures and tastes. I spent six months in New York on a project and found the fast-paced lifestyle and diverse food scene very different but I really enjoyed it.”
Reflecting back on his life, Greg’s advice to others would be, “Don’t dwell on the regrets in your life - always look at the positives.”
